Face Problems with Faith: A Devotional from Jordan and Kristen
Scripture Verse:
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” — Psalm 34:19
Devotional: Face Problems with Faith
The following relates a personal story from Kristen:
Life is full of challenges. Some problems seem small and manageable, while others feel like immovable mountains. There are trials that blindside us and ones we see coming but feel powerless to stop. And in those moments, when the weight of life is pressing down, it’s natural to ask, “God, why? Why is this happening to me?”
I get it. I’m living it.
For months now, I’ve been walking through one of the hardest trials of my life—a persistent health battle that, despite my prayers, has not yet fully lifted. I’ve had days when I’ve cried out to God in frustration, wondering when I would finally be free of this struggle. But recently, God spoke to my heart and said, “You ask how long this will persist, but have you persisted in prayer like you used to?”
That question cut deep. Because the truth is, I had let discouragement creep in. I had allowed exhaustion to silence some of my prayers. But then I remembered: The battle isn’t won by avoidance. It’s won by standing firm in faith and deciding to face problems with faith.
God Strengthens Us When We Face Problems with Faith
The enemy wants us to believe that suffering means God has abandoned us. That’s a lie. The Bible never promises that righteous people won’t have afflictions. In fact, it says the opposite. Psalm 34:19 tells us that the righteous will have many afflictions, but the Lord will deliver them out of them all. That means our struggles are not permanent. God has already written the end of the story, and it’s a story of victory.
Isaiah 41:10 says, “Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” God doesn’t just promise rescue—He promises strength. That strength comes when we face problems with faith, not fear.
Faith Grows Stronger Through Struggles
Strength doesn’t come from easy seasons. It comes from struggle. Just like muscles grow by lifting heavier weights, our faith grows by facing heavier trials. But in order to grow, we have to face our challenges instead of running from them.
God’s delays are not His denials. He is not ignoring our prayers—He is doing something deeper. He knows the need beneath the need we think we need. While we pray for healing, He may be refining our trust or building endurance. That’s why we must continue seeking Him in every season.
Shift Your Focus and Face Problems with Faith
Maybe you’re asking God “why,” but He’s asking you to ask “what”—What are You teaching me in this season, Lord? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego faced the furnace with faith, saying, “Even if He does not [deliver us], we will not bow” (Daniel 3:18). That’s the kind of faith we’re called to.
Whatever you’re going through right now, don’t let the enemy convince you to retreat. Stand firm on God’s promises. Keep praying, keep believing, and keep moving forward—because when you face problems with faith, you are already on the path to victory.
Application
- Change your perspective: Instead of asking why this is happening, ask what God wants to teach you through it.
- Persist in prayer: If you’ve grown weary in prayer, renew your commitment to daily seeking God.
- Declare victory before you see it: Speak life over your situation, knowing that God is already working behind the scenes.
- Trust God’s timing: Deliverance may not come immediately, but God’s timing is always perfect.
Prayer
Father, I don’t always understand why I go through trials, but I trust that You are working for my good. Strengthen me in the waiting, teach me to persist in faith, and remind me that victory is already mine in Christ. Help me to face my problems with courage, knowing that You are with me every step of the way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
