One of the misconceptions a lot of people have of God is that He’s this angry police officer, waiting around corners, trying to catch you committing a sin. In reality, it’s the enemy that wants to accuse us of sin, whereas God wants to separate you from sin and overlook your sin. That’s why He sent Christ to die on the cross, to take away our sins, and to separate us from those sins “as far as the east is from the west.” But that doesn’t mean that living a sinful life doesn’t have consequences. Behaving badly, doing things we know we shouldn’t do, will lead to bad results in life, like it or not. God disciplines those He loves not because He doesn’t want us having any fun, but because he can see past that “fun” to the consequences of it, and He doesn’t want us to fall victim to those consequences, not the least of which is separation from Him.
God is not an Angry Police Officer
